What to Expect on your First Visit

Welcome to North Airline Animal Hospital! We know your first visit can be a little overwhelming for both you and your pet, so here are a few tips to help. Be sure to call us at (318) 747-1099 to schedule your appointment ahead of time.

Appointments: When coming in to our hospital you will be greeted by our friendly receptionists and asked to fill out a New Client Form. This form will give us information about you and your pet so we are able to set up an account for you. If you would like to fill out this form ahead of time you can find a copy under Hospital Forms.

We will then ask to make copies of your pet's records (if applicable) so we can have that information on file within your account. Next we will confirm the reason for your visit and ask & answer any questions pertaining to the visit. We will then get your information entered into our system and check your pet in.

The next available technician will then come up front to get your chart. They will review your pet's information and then call you into the next available exam room. In the exam room the technician will ask more in depth questions pertaining to your pet and the reason for the visit. They will then take your pet out of the room to get vital signs, weight, temperature, etc. The technician will then return your pet to you and let you know when the doctor will be in to examine him/her. When the doctor arrives he/she will examine your pet and let you know the findings and if applicable what tests/treatment would be recommended. If this is an appointment for vaccinations the doctor will give those after the examination of your pet. After your consent of the recommended tests/treatments, your pet may be taken to the treatment area to have these done. Once the appointment is over, the doctor will give you a report card of his/her exam findings and what was done to take home with you. You will then come back to the reception area where you will be checked out and a follow-up appointment will be scheduled if needed.

Drop Off Appointments: When coming in to our hospital you will be greeted by our friendly receptionists and asked to fill out a New Client Form. This form will give us information about you and your pet so we are able to set up an account for you. We will also ask you to fill out our Patient Drop Off Form. This form will give us information about your pet's visit and how to contact you if needed. If you would like to fill out these forms ahead of time you can find a copy under Hospital Forms.

We will then ask to make copies of your pet's records so we can have that information on file within your account. Your pet must be up to date on vaccinations per our hospital's protocol to stay with us. Next we will confirm the reason for your visit and ask & answer any questions pertaining to the visit. We will then get your information entered into our system and check your pet in. The next available technician will then come up front to get your chart and take your pet back. They may ask additional questions if needed. If your pet is sick, one of the doctors will contact you after the exam and let you know the findings and if applicable what tests/treatment would be recommended. After your consent of the doctor's recommendations, your pet will have these procedures/tests done. Once your pet is ready to go, we will give you a call. If your pet received any tests/treatments during their visit, we will often need to schedule a discharge appointment with you at this time. All other drop off appointments will need to be picked up by 5:00pm. If you have a discharge appointment scheduled, a technician will call you into the next available exam room to go over the doctor's findings, any treatments that were done, and any at home care or medications needed. You will then come back to the reception area where you will be checked out and a follow-up appointment will be scheduled if needed.
